As long as I’ve lived on the East Coast (11+ years) I’ve heard amazing things about Martha’s Vineyard (M.V.). This summer I finally had a chance to visit and it was even better than I could have imagined. The town is super charming, quaint, preppy and moves at a nice, chill speed. You do not feel like you’re on East Coast speed; there are very few New Yorker’s there, which is part of the draw, and it is very New England with its charm and friendly people.
Where to Stay In Edgartown:
Harbor View Hotel & Resort - Although I didn’t stay here, a friend who did highly recommends it. We did enjoy lovely brunch here with amazing views of the waterfront. It has a very nice lobby as well as a restaurant, Water Street plus a great pool for the hotel guests. 131 North Water Street. Edgartown, MA. 02539. 800-225-6005.
Mac Phail’s Corner Cafe - This was right near the water in the town square and served one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever tasted. I even went back on our last day for another one but they’d had so much traffic there they were sold out of lobster. 18 Dock Street. Edgartown, MA. 02539. 508-939-3090.
Where to Shop:
Edgartown Main Street Black Dog General Store - This is another spot for quintessential MV gear. You’ll recognize the Black Dog logo from T-shirts, sweats and other souvenirs. 11 Main Street. Edgartown, MA. 02539. 508-627-6412.
NRO Kids - This was one of the cutest kid’s stores I’ve ever been in. It had the most adorable, preppiest gear and I bought my nephew Henry a blue hat with a sailboat motif (see below with his mom, my sister Jeannine) for his summer boating. Anyone with kids MUST visit this great store! Next door to Mac Phail’s Corner Cafe.
