Perfect packing list

Over the years I have perfected the perfect travel list. Many friends and family have asked me what I believe are the necessities to pack, carry on, and bring with me on a trip. You may disagree but here’s what I can’t survive without for carrying on.

Carry On Necessities:

  • The best carry on bag is The Louis Vuitton Neverfull. It is enormous and you can fit magazines, a laptop, toiletries, snacks, even a change of clothes. It’s also very durable so you don’t have to worry about it not being able to hold whatever you jam into it. Trust me if it hasn’t broken with my two laptops (personal and work), and IPad, and everything listed below it’s indestructible!
  • Toiletries & Make up always. That way if your bags are lost, you have make up with you although I avoid checking 90% of the time unless the trip’s over 4-5 days where a carry on suitcase won’t cut it
  • Jewelry. NEVER check this. It’s usually your most sentimental pieces (at least I pack jewelry I can’t live without and my favorite pieces) so be sure to keep with you.
  • Snacks: Granola/protein bar, nuts, gum, candy (yes I use travel as an excuse for my sweet tooth), corn nuts (preferably Ranch!)
  • Meal. If you’re flying during a meal time I always bring my own meal vs. depending on the airline’s offering
  • Purell/Wipes: You always want to wipe down the table and arm rests as it’s pretty disgusting how many people have sat where you’re sitting!… yes I’m a bit O.C.D.
  • Great book or kindle (I’m a book girl, can’t seem to give up the paper feeling of reading a book but I know many people disagree)
  • IPad
  • Magazines/newspaper
  • Computer with dvd’s or work to do
  • Cashmere throw or Scarf (for long trips a cashmere throw is great as a blanket) if you’re not going far a scarf is great if you’re chilly on the plane
  • Bottle of water. I’ve learned to always buy one that way if they are slow with the drink service you always have your own water to stay hydrated on the plane
  • Eye mask & earplugs (you’ll appreciate this when a crying baby prevents you from sleeping your entire flight)
  • Foldable reusable tote. These are great if you buy items on a trip and run out of room for your return. Or if you prefer to put the extra items in your carry on you don’t need accessible during the flight above you this is what the second bag is convenient for

For Overnight Flights:

  • Socks. That way you can get cozy and sleep well without worrying about being cold
  • A pillow (I have a great travel pillow that I bring for all over night/red-eye flights)
  • The cashmere throw above or even a small fleece blanket is great
  • Comfy pants/sweatshirt or Lulu Lemon comfy clothes

The Perfect Travel Outfit:

  • Jeans or comfy pants (for over night flights)
  • Ballet Flats (easy to take on/off for security). If you’re weird about going barefoot in the airport then sneakers with socks.
  • T-Shirt under a sweater/top (good to have layers to adjust to plane temperature)
  • A scarf/cashmere throw, great for layering if you get cold on the flight also an ideal pillow
  • Socks (as noted above for over night flights or just to put on during the flight to be more cozy)
  • A coat you don’t mind folding up and stuffing in the over head above you
