Oakland’s Jack’s Oyster Bar & Fish House

Oakland’s Jack’s Oyster Bar & Fish House

Anyone new to the Oakland dining scene, which to be honest is me since I’ve really only gotten the San Francisco dining scene under my belt after living here for two years must check out Jack London Square. Jack London Square is an area of Oakland along the water that’s very charming and scenic with restaurants and lively nightlife. I first visited the area for the Opening Party (Press & Investors) for Rick Hackett and Meredith Melville’s newest Oakland Restaurant, Jack’s Oyster Bar & Fish House.  Wow, what a treat. Not only do you feel like you’re on vacation looking out at beautiful sailboats and water front views it gets even better as you enter gorgeous Jack’s Oyster Bar & Fish House.  Upon entering you’ll notice the oversize loft ceiling featuring a magnificent extremely long bar. It’s hard not to fall in love with a restaurant when their bar is so perfect. Not only is the bar gorgeous but in the back of the restaurant there’s a spectacular mural created by artist’s Becky & Michael (more details and their history to come in a separate write-up).

Aside from the fabulous restaurant architecture and design, the Food & Cocktails were divine. Upon arriving, we offered beverages from their creative cocktail menu. I tried the “Dillicious” which I fell in love with, so much that I had a few more….  The food menu was extensive with great sea food options ranging from Oysters (sadly I don’t eat them but Katherine my date loved them) to Crab Cakes, Lobster Rolls (my personal favorite), Mussels, Shrimp, Salmon amongst other fabulous dishes.  The highlight of my evening (aside from the delicious Food & amazing Cocktails of course) was meeting Chef Rick Hackett. He was very approachable and super friendly and talkative (I still am amazed by how NICE California Chefs are compared to the curt New York City Chef’s I experienced).  In addition to meeting the fearless leader of the restaurant team, I was lucky enough to connect with two of his team member’s Jack & Matt who really made me and Katherine feel special and are just overall amazing, nice, cool guys. It’s meeting new people like Chef Rick, Jack & Matt at awesome events like this which make me LOVE being a blogger and the extrovert I am making friends everywhere! Be sure to visit Jack’s Oyster Bar & Fish House and let me know how you enjoy the amazing restaurant and visit  to Oakland. 336 Water St, Oakland, CA 94607. (510) 271-7952.
