My Favorite Obsessions at the moment… Food, Wine, Travel

With how many amazing things there are to cover on my blog, Food, Wine, Hotels, Chef Interviews I thought it would be fun to have a Top 10 Obsessions list with what I’m most in love with at any given moment. As with all of my Top 10 lists, there is no rank to the order, they are all ten of my favorite obsessions at the moment.

Davis Estates

Davis Estates has been on my radar for a while  and after many efforts to get there (with my crazy schedule) I finally got the chance in November. Wow, I really wish I had visited sooner this is beyond gorgeous, with an exquisite knowledgeable team and amazing wines and food. Yes, they have an in house chef so when you visit you’ll experience his well-curated food & wine pairing tasting (if you opt for the tasting paired with food which I recommend). Be sure to tour the winery as there is a gorgeous vintage barn, from the original winery that Davis Estates bought the winery from which was used as the inspiration by talented Architect Howard Backen (if the name rings a bell it’s because he also designed Ovid Winery, The Farm at The Carneros Inn, Ram’s Gate Winery) just to name a few of his gorgeous projects. 4060 Silverado Trail Calistoga, CA. 94515 Davis-Family-Estates-7

The gorgeous tasting area with in the Winery. We sat at the fireplace for our tasting which was so cozy and really made the experience quite private and special.

Plaj Restaurant

Plaj Restaurant is a Hayes Valley gem I just recently discovered and it’s incredible. It’s owned by a husband and wife Chef Roberth and Andrea Sundell.  Not only is the newly reopened space beautiful, but it is also modern, edgy and fresh and you really feel as if you’re in Scandinavia. As if this isn’t the best part, the food is even more incredible.  With extreme detail put into each dish the flavors and incredible as is the gorgeous presentation. If you want to check out their desserts come by post Opera for a drink and delicious dessert at their swanky bar counter. 333 Fulton St, San Francisco, CA 94102

Rosewood Sand Hill

Still somewhat of a newbie to California (4.5 years later) Rosewood Sand Hill was a luxury hotel I had heard about but never really experienced. Recently I visited for a staycation and this is quite a luxurious getaway. Between their large property with gorgeous grounds, an outdoor heated pool (even in the winter) and gorgeous rooms plus their Madera Restaurant the Rosewood Sand Hill is a luxury destination I recommend you visit. If you don’t have an occasion for an overnight stay go for drinks at their swanky bar or enjoy their Michelin Star Madera Restaurant. Whatever you do at the Rosewood you will feel spoiled, pampered and not want to leave. Trust me. 2825 Sand Hill Rd, Menlo Park, CA 94025

Copain Winery

During a recent trip to Healdsburg, see, I told you I go there a lot I finally got the chance to visit Copain Wines (read more about here). I had enjoyed their wines before at various events such as the World of Pinot Noir, but I had never been to this magnificent winery. At the moment, it’s one of my top 3 favorite wineries. I know I’ve been to a lot of wineries, but this has the most picturesque views, incredible wines, and just a real authentic experience. Nothing stuffy, pretentious of snobby just thoughtful people sharing amazing wines and gorgeous views. 7800 Eastside Road. Healdsburg, California.

Byron Winery

As you have probably read Santa Barbara’s Wine Country is a region I can not get enough of. For that reason the recent behind the scenes tour I did with Byron Winery’s Winemaker Jonathan Nagy blew me away. Read more about his amazing wines and our tour here. And I hate to share with you that this Winery is not open to the public so you can’t visit, however, their wines are widely distributed so I highly recommend you try these.

Newly reopened Central Kitchen

With a fresh reopening adding pasta as well as changing the style of the menu, I’m adoring the NEW Central Kitchen. Be sure to taste the new pasta (which wasn’t formerly on the Central Kitchen menu) when you visit and some of the mains from their cool fire pit. 3000 20th St, San Francisco, CA 94110
